Don't waste your money! January 6, 2009 I tried the Pedipaws trimmer on my three mutts (35, 65, and 70 lbs) and found it severely underpowered. It bogs down with very little pressure applied to the nail. Be prepared to spend in excess of one hour per pet. If you do purchase one of these contraptions, remember to apply light pressure to each nail for only a few seconds to avoid friction overheating the nail. Since I purchased mine, I have talked with others who have had the same experience. It's a good idea, just needs further refinement.
30 Minute Trimmer January 5, 2009 I have a doberman pinscher and she hates getting her nails cut and I hate cutting them because of her black nails and not being able to see her quick. So, I thought that this handy tool would be perfect for her and me. I bought it at Bed Bath & Beyond. Yes, it is sold in stores unlike what the commercial says and the box says. Once I got it home, I popped in some fresh batteries, turned it on and started on nail #1. But to my amazement, the filer stopped the moment I put my dogs nail to the file. OK, operator error, maybe I was pushing too hard and wasn't giving the tool it's fair share so I decided to try again but more gently. But once again, I was unsuccessful. The motor in this thing is so weak that I literally had to barely touch my dogs' nail on the file for it to even continue to rotate. Now, because I have a big dog I cannot say to the small dog owners but for any dog bigger than a cocker spaniel, this thing isn't worth the plastic it is made in. You would probably be better off just getting a manual file and doing the work yourself. It took me about 30 minutes to file all my dogs nails except for 3 because she couldn't take it anymore. Nice idea, bad execution!
EASY January 5, 2009 Works well & very easily. Kicks up a little dust, so you need to keep your mouth closed. Much easier than clipping.
Works GREAT! January 5, 2009 I was leary about this product because of the reviews I had read but after talking to a friend that owns one I purchased it to give it a try. My dog was terrified of having his nails clipped and had to actually be drugged before you could do it. With the pedipaws he lays in my arms and lets me use the tool and never even wimpers! He is not scared of the sound at all. This is the best product I could have found to save my dog from the horrible experience of having his nails clipped every month!
We Love It January 4, 2009 It's easy to use and it's much faster than I expected. My dog doesn't mind it and I don't have to worry about hurting him. Our dog is afraid of everything, so we started by turning the Pedipaws on and letting it run across the room from our dog. After 3 or 4 days, we turned it on and walked past the dog. A couple of days later, we started to use it. Now the dog closes his eyes and just lies still while we use it.
